The Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce & Office of Tourism coordinates the annual Safari Days Festival that takes place in various locations in Chanute on the last Saturday of April. One of the events held during the festival is a Chamber Business Expo hosted on the campus of Neosho County Community College.

In addition to the business vendors showcasing their merchandise and services, activities such as a giant slide are included for the kids. In downtown, a Petting Zoo is located near the Safari Museum® to go along with activities sponsored by Main Street Chanute.

The day begins with a Health Fair sponsored by Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. The highlight of the festival is the annual Safari Film Festival, which draws visitors from as far away as New York.
 

Each year the Chamber and the City of Chanute are co-sponsors of the annual Business Appreciation Luncheon that recognizes a local business for its commitment to Chanute. The 2009 Business of the Year was awarded to Benchwarmers, owned by Ken and Cathy Matney. The Matneys are shown in this photo surrounded by their family and employees along with Chamber and City representatives.

Bill Kurtis visited Chanute in 2007 as the featured speaker at the SEK, Inc.
