Chanute selected as site for Regional Prosperity Summit Community leaders are encouraged to attend a regional prosperity summit scheduled in Chanute Tuesday, August 12th, from 9 a.m. to noon at Holiday Park. The event is in conjunction with the Kansas Prosperity Summit and is one of seven being held throughout the state. Priorities identified at the mini-summit will be advanced at the statewide Prosperity Summit scheduled October 1st in Wichita. The project is under the direction of Kansas Lt. Governor John Moore. This local mini-summit will bring together core leaders in business, education, government, economic development, agriculture, labor and tourism to develop and advance meaningful directives to stimulate and strengthen regional economies. The goal is to develop significant economic policy that is regionally focused, according to Gene Bicknell, Pittsburg, who has been appointed Southeast Kansas Regional Chair. Lt. Governor Moore is expected to open the August 12th meeting. Local participation is encouraged and pre-registration is requested. For more information call the Chamber office, 431-3350.
