In the News…Chanute Mayor Ed Cox graduated in May from Level I of the Kansas Municipal Leadership Academy. Twenty officials from across the state participated in the program presented by the League of Kansas Municipalities. The program curriculum is designed to enhance leadership abilities of men and women who serve Kansas communities. According to an article in The Chanute Tribune, Level I is the Education Level and focuses on achieving 40 hours of credit for attending League-sponsored trainings. The 40-plus hours to attain the certification amounted to 240-plus hours of contact time in gaining knowledge to become a better public official. Level 2 is the Achievement Level and focuses on continuing education as well as participation in various government-related activities. Level 3 is Leadership Level and focuses on leadership activities and positions held in various organizations.
