Membership Information and Benefits

The Chamber’s members are it’s most important asset. We hope you will join us in our efforts to promote and grow Chanute.

As a member of the Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce & Office of Tourism you will:

  • Be eligible to participate in the successful Chamber Gift Certificate Program. Only Chamber members can accept these gift certificates. Since 2002, more than $1 million have been put back into the local economy through the use of gift certificates at Chamber member businesses. In addition, as opposed to credit card programs, there is no fee for Chamber members to participate in this program.
  • Be able to have your business card and promotional information on display at the Chamber office.
  • Have the opportunity to market your business to Chamber members monthly at no charge via a Chamber e-blast.
  • Be able to showcase your business to other Chamber members and the general public via Chamber mailings, email, publications, advertisements and social media.
  • Be kept informed of issues affecting local businesses. Receive information about events and activities hosted by
    the Chamber or its members. Be “in the know” regarding legislative and community activities.
  • Be offered the opportunity to be involved in Chamber activities such as Chanute Day on the Hill.
  • Have the opportunity to purchase advertising space on Chamber promotional material and the Chamber website.
  • Be able to present your business at the monthly Chamber Connections luncheons.
  • Be listed on the Chamber website.
  • Be able to have a link to your business website on the Chamber website.
  • Be eligible for Chamber member only sponsorships or discounts for exhibit space, events and promotions.
  • Be able to host a Business Promotion event and to participate in a number of networking opportunities that will stretch your advertising/marketing dollars.
  • Be listed in the Chamber’s membership brochure.
  • Have access to the Chamber mailing list on a quarterly basis. The list contains nearly 400 member names that can be contacted by you to promote your products/services.
  • Be the first referral given by the Chamber.
  • Have the opportunity to be part of an organization that advances the economic well-being and quality of life in Chanute and Southeast Kansas.

How We Promote and Grow Chanute

Business and Membership Development
  • Work in partnership with the City of Chanute, Main Street Chanute, Chanute Regional Development Authority and others to support local and area economic development.
  • Work to enhance economic development efforts to support Chanute business retention, growth and recruitment.
  • Represent Chanute at conferences, meetings and seminars.
  • Conduct Ribbon Cutting ceremonies for new members to help promote their businesses and welcome them to the business community.
  • Conduct Business Promotion events to recognize the growth and accomplishments of existing businesses.
  • Conduct Business Appreciation activities. Nominate local businesses for regional and state awards.
  • Promote members via emails, advertising, social media and other avenues.
  • Maintain and promote the Chamber Gift Certificate program, which encourages local spending.
  • Conduct monthly Chamber Connections networking and promotional luncheons.
  • Maintain a website for networking and membership information.
  • Hold Leadership Luncheons to share information and build relationships.
  • Maintain Chanute promotional information.
Legislative Activities
  • Participate in various legislative activities and events to stay in contact with State and Federal legislators and work to keep the membership apprised of legislative issues.
  • Hold Candidate Forums for local, county and state elections.
  • Host Coffee with City Commissioners as well as Legislative Coffees with State and Federal officials.
  • Hold a Chanute Day on the Hill in Topeka.
Community Activities
  • Co-Sponsor the Leadership Chanute program.
  • Participate with USD 413 and Neosho County Community College to bring students, teachers & businesses together.
  • ChamberConnects4Kids with Royster Middle School.
  • Sponsor the annual Safari Family Fun Day event.
  • Sponsor efforts to provide information on issues facing the community.
  • Convene meetings on topics of interest to local and area merchants, businesses and residents.
Tourism Promotion
  • Maintain city map and other information for distribution.
  • Promote local tourist attractions via website, mailings, advertisements, events, etc.
  • Maintain a calendar of local events.
  • Participate in area and state tourism activities.

Tioga Township Level –
$240 Annually

For Companies with 3 – 5 Employees

Chicago Junction Level –

For Companies with 6 – 25 Employees

New Chicago Level – $480 Annually

For Companies with 26 – 50 Employees, Educational Institutions

Katy Level –
$600 Annually

For Companies with 51 – 100 Employees

Santa Fe Level – $840 Annually

For Companies with 101 – 200 Employees

Octave Chanute Level –
$1,200 Annually

For Companies with More Than 200 Employees

*Hair Salons owned and operated by a single individual may join as a Small Business Owner. Individuals contracting for space within the salon may be added to the membership for an additional $50 per individual annually, up to 4 individuals. Individuals contracting for space may join as a Small Business Owner should the owner/operator choose to not join the Chamber. In that case, however, additional individual contractors may not join for $50. This membership category applies also to businesses such as real estate firms. Chamber Gift Certificates may ONLY be accepted by those who have joined the Chamber, NOT by the business as a whole.
